Doing What Is Righteous to the Lord

Scripture Deuteronomy 24 [13] Return his cloak to him by sunset so that he may sleep in it. Then he will thank you, and it will be regarded as a righteous act in the sight of the LORD your God

Observation: How many righteous acts have I done in the sight of the Lord? All I know that it is not nearly enough and if my unrighteous acts are counted against me it would most likely be a negative number. I know when I’m doing something righteous that it would be pleasing to the Lord, that is when I’m doing something for someone or for my Lord without thinking of myself. That is why my righteous deeds are few, since I put myself first so much of the time.

Application: Jesus told me to die to myself. My life is not about me but what God could do through me if I would only let go of my selfish desires and focus on Him. It’s time to put God first in everything and the needs of others above my own. I’m only here for a short time and that time is getting shorter. It won’t be long before I go before and take accountability for what I did with this life He gave me. I don’t want to be afraid but be excited to know that I blessed by God.

Prayer: Dear Lord help me die to myself. Show me how to always put you first and the needs of others above my own. I want to be regarded as righteous by You and that you would be blessed knowing that I’m yours. I love you and what to show it to you and others.
