My Lord Never Forsakes Me

Scripture Deut 31:6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

Observation: I continue to feel alone in my struggles and forget God is next to me. He knows what I’m going through and will never leave me, so why do I fear? God never moves from me, it’s me that moves away from Him. I should never be down or depressed knowing that God knows where I am and what I need. I should never be afraid and should be of good courage, because God gives me that courage and strength and all I need to do is ask for it.

Application: As soon as I feel afraid or alone I need to spend time with God and feel His presence in my life. He will direct me and all I need to do is ask. I need to remember I’m not alone, I’m filled with the Holy Spirit and have been ordained by God to fulfill a purpose that He has given me. I’m God’s servant and not a servant of my fears. Nothing can harm me except what God allows and He loves me and will protect me.

Prayer: My Lord I’m yours. Thank you for always being by my side and protecting me from the enemy’s attacks. Help strengthen me and take this fear from me. Open my eyes to all you desire of me and guide me through this life. I want to come home to you hearing well done good and faithful servant help me accomplish that.

A Circumcised Heart

Scripture Deut 30:5-6 And the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live

Observation: I need my heart circumcised because there is a layer of evilness around it so much of the time. My heart is hard towards others putting my desires above theirs and God’s. I need that hardness removed from my heart that it would be bare before my Lord and that my life can be used by Him. I want that because I hate the way it feels when I do wrong and I look back at what I should have done that would honor God. I want to do that first, the things that pleases my Lord.

Application: Think before I act. If I can stop before I do anything and ask God for His guidance, I know He will give it to me. I want to do what is right and Satan knows how to push my buttons. Think before I do and ask what would Jesus what me to do, how can I honor Him with my life and decisions I make today.

Prayer: My Lord I have such a hateful heart at times and left to my own accord I will do what is wrong. Guide me with the Holy Spirit and choose the path you desire me to walk. Circumcise my heart and remove these evil and selfish desires.

Keeping God’s Covenant

Scripture Deut 29:9 Therefore keep the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.

Observation: God has made a covenant with me through His son. He has promised me eternal life and expects me to live a life that is Holy and pleasing to Him, bearing fruit with the gifts He has given me, preaching the gospel and loving and serving others. God always keeps His word, but I am far from being that faithful. Most of my days are not serving God, but serving myself my desires. My love for my Lord should be so deep that keeping my part of the covenant should be an easy task, but I’m a sinner and selfish and need the Lord’s help to keep His covenant with Him.

Application: Remember my covenant with God and God doesn’t take it lightly and is very serious about it. To think before I do to make sure I’m on the path God has chosen for me. It takes work because it is against my sinful nature so I need to try much harder and I need to be intense on serving Him. I’m coming to the end of the race and I need to be focused on the finish line, my eternal home with my Lord.

Prayer: My Lord help me keep my end of this covenant. Strengthen me and give me purpose, you know my heart and desire to serve you, but you also know how lazy and self-centered I am. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and guide me on this journey I’m on to keep this covenant which you have blessed me with.

Blessings That Overtake Us

Scripture Deut 28:2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God:

Observation: I want to obey the voice of my Lord to show Him my gratitude for all He has done for me, but you can’t out bless God. As I obey and grow closer to God He increases His blessings for me, not because I deserve them because He desires to give them. They don’t only come but I’m told they will overtake me. You can’t earn God’s love or do anything that will promote yourself, but you can obey and honor God and give Him just a little of the joy He gives you.

Application: My mind wanders all of the time and it is hard to stay focused on anything. I always start the day trying to be focused on what God wants of me for that day, but anger and pride rear their ugly head and side track me for a while. I need to continually ask God for guidance through the Holy Spirit to obey every command and end the day as I started, close to Him.

Prayer: My Lord I know you love me and there is nothing I can do to make you love me more, but I can bring joy to your day. Help me be the bright part of your day when you think of your servant. I want to obey each command and be faithful by the service I supply to you. Help me please be a blessing to You.

Do Not Let Others Stray

Scripture Deut 27:18 ‘Cursed is the one who makes the blind to wander off the road.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’

Observation: I read this and think of all the cults that are out there. When I went to work today I saw a book about Mormons a religion that has taken so many off the path of Christ. All the people that try to convert Christians with false religions they are all cursed and the ones that start and head up these cults are especially cursed. Our own actions can lead the blind to wander off the path, since if we proclaim to be Christians, but act contradictory. We don’t always need to point others away by preaching another religion, we can also make our relation to Jesus unappealing.

Application: I need to be a person others would like to be around. I need to live my life with peace and joy and compassion for others. I want people to look at me as being someone they would like to be with and then point them to Jesus telling them anything good you see in me is only because of my Lord and then introduce them to Him.

Prayer: Dear Lord I thank you for all you have done for me, for the way you took me out of the pit of despair. Now please use me to help the blind of this world find You and their way home.

Obeying His Voice

Scripture Deut 26:17 Today you have proclaimed the LORD to be your God, and that you will walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments, and His judgments, and that you will obey His voice.

Observation: Today needs to be every day. A day can’t go by that I don’t proclaim the Lord to be my God. I need to stop taking that lightly just saying my Lord and my God. If that is true in my life than I must walk in His ways, keep His statutes, His commandments, honor His judgments and obey His voice. I can’t say one without doing the others or it makes me out to be a liar and a hypocrite.

Application: I always start my day in prayer giving God the glory, but not always do I follow through with what is expected of me. I need to stop listening to what I want and be obedient and do what God wants of me.. I need to be building treasures in heaven and stop getting things that mouths will destroy or rust away. I belong to God and not this world.

Prayer: Dear Lord I want to be obedient and I want to put you first all of the time, but I’m a lowly sinner and have a very hard time staying focused. Help me please earn the crowns you have set up before me so that when the time comes I can lay them at your feet.

The Unrighteous are and Abomination

Scripture Deuteronomy 25:16 For all who do such things, all who behave unrighteously, are an abomination to the LORD your God.

Observation: Unrighteous is doing the wrong thing with the wrong attitude. Self-centerness is at the center of acting unrighteous because all we want is what we want and we don’t think of the need of others or what God wants of us. The world is unrighteous and encourages us to be the same. Commercials entice us to get what we want and be the person we want to be without consideration of what God desires us to be. This world is an abomination to the Lord and it is harder for a Christian to be righteous, but we must.

Application: Think before I act to make sure it honors God. To rid myself of the anger within me and the desire to always be right in my mind no matter who it hurts. To ask myself if what I’m about to do is righteous and honoring before God and if it isn’t not to do it, but find a way to glorify God in all that I do.

Prayer: Dear Lord you know my heart, you know me better than anyone, you’re my creator. I need your strength and wisdom to make the right decisions that will lead my on a path of righteousness. Build me up to do your will and touch the hearts of others by the man you can make me to be.
