Imitating Our God

Scripture Leviticus 11: [44] I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean by any creature that moves about on the ground.

Observation: We are to be like Jesus and imitate Him. Our God is holy and tells us we are to be Holy, set apart for Him. God gave us His example for a perfect life in Jesus, even though we can’t live a perfect life like our Lord we need to try each day, even if we fail we need to get back up and try again.

Application: My problem is that I try to imitate the people of this world and even though they may have good intentions they are not anywhere as good as my Lord. I need to ask myself what would Jesus do and then do it. I need to live a life for Him, so others may see Him through my actions. I’m called to be holy and that is my goal in life to be holy and pleasing to God.

Prayer: My Lord I know this is a big task to be like Jesus, but I know I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Please strengthen me and make me holy to you. Change my focus from this world to your kingdom. I love you and want to please you before I come home.

Distinguishing Good and Evil

Scripture Leviticus 10: [10] You must distinguish between the holy and the common, between the unclean and the clean,

Observation: Every day I try to distinguish from the unclean and clean thoughts I have. I try to justify my sinful ways and want to think my way is right, because it is good for me. I’ll have evil thoughts toward someone and try to justify them in my mind by coming up with the sinful way that person is and disregarding what my Lord tells me to do. I forget God loves me no matter what and I’m a terrible sinner.

Application: God’s word tells me what is clean and unclean, what is holy or common. His word tells me how to act, how to treat others and how to live a godly life. I need to stop trying to justify my emotions as if it is from God when I know it is unclean thoughts. I need to be a doer of the word and not just a hearer. God has given me specific instructions on what I should do in every circumstance and I need to obey His commands.

Prayer: Dear Lord I don’t know why you love this sinner. Help me please live a clean and holy life. I’m only here because you choose for me to be, may I fulfill the purpose you created your servant for and may I please you in all that I do.

Shouting and Falling for Joy

Scripture Leviticus 9: [24] Fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell facedown.

Observation: When I see God’s miracles and answered prayers do I shout for joy or fall on my knees in awe? No my Lord shows me He is there all of the time and yet my joy is subtle at best and only when I’m in agony to I fall facedown before Him. There shouldn’t be a day that goes by that I don’t shout for joy and especially when others may see it. People should know what an awesome God I serve, as a matter of fact that is my purpose here is to tell others how truly wonderful He is.

Application: I need to not take God for granted and give Him the glory and respect He deserves. Me being here is a miracle and I see my Lord each day and I need to shout for joy and fall facedown to worship Him. I need to share my joy with others and tell them about my wonderful Master and Father so that they may be able to share the joy with me.

Prayer: My Lord you are worthy of all things and especially my obedience. You fill my life with joy help me share it with others in your name. Show me how to tell my story about you to others in a way to draw them closer to you. I bow down before you in awe and worship you, show me how to honor you in a way that is pleasing like the aroma of a sacrifice to you.

Do As the Lord Commands

Scripture Leviticus 8: [21] He washed the inner parts and the legs with water and burned the whole ram on the altar as a burnt offering, a pleasing aroma, an offering made to the LORD by fire, as the LORD commanded Moses.

Observation: All through Leviticus it tells how the people did as the Lord commanded, but it didn’t last long. Today we know what the Lord commands He wrote it in His book and on our hearts. We know as God’s children what our Lord desires of us. and at times we do what He commands, but too often we get involved in this world and forget His commands. I’m so guilty of this when I seek His face I do what He calls me to, but most of the time I’m seeking my own desires and fall into sin.

Application: I need to stay focused on my Lord and His desires for my life. God has blessed me with an eternity with Him and all I need to do is be focused on His will for my life. Besides an eternal home with my Master He promises me rewards for fulfilling His plan in my life and I just need to persevere and stay close to Him to hear His voice. My Lord’s commands are for my own good, He needs nothing from me, but He desires my loyalty and love.

Prayer: Dear Lord you are worthy of all of my love, obedience and praise. Help me stay next to you during the day and that I will stay close to you. Help me not wander off the path you have set me own, but keep me focused on your will for this life you have blessed me with.

Offering An Expression of Thanks

Scripture Leviticus 7:12 ” `If he offers it as an expression of thankfulness, then along with this thank offering he is to offer cakes of bread made without yeast and mixed with oil, wafers made without yeast and spread with oil, and cakes of fine flour well-kneaded and mixed with oil.

Observation: How often to I make an offering of thanksgiving, even though there is so much to thank God for? I don’t make any sacrifice to God for all He has given me with a couple of minor exceptions. If I was from old testament times I would be giving sacrifices all day long, but I think what God wants is my appreciation and love given unconditionally and He deserves that and much more.

Application: My Life should be an expression of my thankfulness for all God has done for me. He is using me, a sinner to reach out to those who are hurting or lost. He has always provided for me and kept me safe, He has blessed me with the most wonderful woman as my wife and has given me good health and has protected me and most of all He has given me eternal life with Him in heaven. My heart should never stop giving Him thanks.

Prayer: My Lord I thank you with all of my heart and what you to know how much I love you. Help me show you each day and stop the distractions from all around me that I may be focused on you and the things you desire of me. I love you, please draw me closer.

The Lord Speaks to Us

Scripture Leviticus 6:19 The LORD also said to Moses,

Observation: In this chapter each paragraph starts with the Lord said to Moses. The next lines are similar for Moses to say something from the Lord to them. God still speaks to us and He may use someone else to tell us what He wants us to hear. All throughout the Bible God tells us to be in fellowship with each other and what better way to have to depend on others then to hear from our Lord. God with speak to us through others and He’ll use us to speak to them. So whether we hear from God directly or indirectly we need to listen.

Application: I need to listen more closely to others and discern what they are saying, paying close attention. I need to see if what they are telling me are within God’s commands and if they are to pray to God for a better understanding of what He is calling me to do. I’m here only to serve God and do to that I need to know what He wants of me.

Prayer: My Lord speak clearly to your servant for I’m hard of hearing so much of the time. Surround me with your children and use them to guide me in the direction you have chosen for me and speak to me to help others.

My Priest Makes Atonement for Me

Scripture Leviticus 5: [18] He is to bring to the priest as a guilt offering a ram from the flock, one without defect and of the proper value. In this way the priest will make atonement for him for the wrong he has committed unintentionally, and he will be forgiven.

Observation: In the old testament the priest had to make atonement for the sinner. The person would bring the sacrifice, but the priest had to be the one to make atonement for them. Now the new testament I have a Lord, Savior and Priest in Jesus. Jesus goes before the Father to make atonement for my sins as I confess them to the Lord. I don’t need to bring any sacrifice, because Jesus provided me with the only sacrifice acceptable to God and that was His perfect life. Now all I need to bring is a repentant heart and a sincere and humble attitude and ask to be forgiven.

Application: Always remember the sacrifice that my Lord made so that my sins can be forgiven. There is no other priest that will atone for my sins and I need to come before Him with a humble and grateful spirit and do my best to avoid sin. I should never take lightly want was sacrificed for me and because of Jesus love for me I have a new home that I will be able to go to.

Prayer: Thank you Jesus for loving this sinner. I thank you for the sacrifice you made for me and may I never forget You during the course of each day that I will try my best to live a life that pleases you. I love you Lord help me do better.
