Called to God’s Purpose

Scripture: Romans 8: 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Observation: It’s hard to believe at times that I was called for God’s purpose. I never felt I was worth anything, let alone to be used by God. It is wonderful to see now how God is using me and I pray that He continues until it is time to go home.

Application: Always look to see how God is using me each day and no matter what know that God will work the good in each situation. See how God wants to use me each day and fulfill the purpose that He has created me for.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father open my eyes to what you desire of me and may I always be obedient to you. May I finish the race well and that you will be pleased.

Who’s Slave am I?

Scripture: Romans 6: [16] Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey–whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?

Observation: I want to be Jesus bond servant, a slave to my Lord, but so many of the times I become a slave to my thoughts. I worry so much anymore that at times I want to give up and just go home. I become a slave to sin and I know it must please Satan to see at times that he is winning. There is no reason for my negative thoughts and actions God is with me always and He has protected me every day and has answered my prayers.

Application: I need to be a slave to God and as a slave obey my master. He tells me not to fear, not to worry, to trust in Him and that the battle is His and He will always be with me. I need to stop and listen to the voice of my Master and embrace Him each day.

Prayer: Dear Lord help me obey You and that I may hear your voice when you speak to me. I freely give you this life as a living sacrifice, may it glorify you.

Hope Does Not Disappoint

Scripture: Romans 5:[5] And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Observation: I’m going to go and do inventory right after I write this and my heart is heavy. I’m having a hard time resting and feel very anxious and there is no reason to. I’m living like a man with no hope, yet Jesus has given me hope and love in everything. Why do I doubt Him? He has been faithful all of my life and I know He is always faithful why do I worry?

Application: To live each day knowing the Holy Spirit is with me guiding me if I let Him. Live a life of victory and not defeat and have faith God will carry me through every situation. Trust in Him who is trustworthy.

Prayer: Dear Lord help me today and calm my spirit and show me how to please you with my actions and words. I’m here only because you desired it may I glorify you today.

The Faith to Trust God

Scripture: Romans 4:[5] However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.

Observation: I repeat Proverbs 3:5,6 and my Lord has been so trustworthy, why don’t I trust Him all the time. I’m now worried about starting my new job and concerned about the hours I will need to work and if I will get stuck in this job for the rest of my working life. Jesus told me not to worry about tomorrow, yet every day I do. How can I ever be called righteous before God?

Application: Live the Word and trust God, He has never let me down. When I catch myself beginning to worry give the burden to God and ask for His guidance. Live life day by day and trust in the Lord to guide me on the path He has chosen.

Prayer: Dear Father forgive me for my lack of faith and please increase my faith that I may honor you. I’m only here because You desired it help me fulfill the purpose You have created me for.

Righteousness from God

Scripture: Romans 3:[22] This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,

Observation: My righteousness comes from faith in Jesus, so how righteous am I? I believe in my Lord and savior, but my faith is weak and wavers so much. If my faith was strong I wouldn’t worry the way I do about every little things. Jesus tells me not to worry because it doesn’t do anything for me and to have faith in God. I still try to make my good deeds make me righteous in front of others instead of being righteous before God the Father and that is only possible through the faith I have in Jesus.

Application: To focus more of my thoughts and time on Jesus and the Word. To try to please God and not impress man. To lay down my anxieties at the cross and trust Jesus on the outcome. Be faithful and trust in Him.

Prayer: Dear Lord forgive this stubborn servant and increase my faith that I will please you. I believe, help my unbelief.

I Want to Be Righteous

Scripture: Acts 2:[13] For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.

Observation: Obeying God is a problem I have from time to time. He asks very little from me yet I seem to have much more time for what I want to do then for what He wants of me. I finally was obedient yesterday as He asked me to do a prayer table at the pier, almost a year later.

Application: I need to be more obedient when God calls. I need to search out God’s will for my life and not wait and hope He doesn’t call me. I should be standing out in front desiring to please God and stop trying to please myself.

Prayer: Dear Lord forgive your servant and that is what I should be. Asking each day how to serve you and please you. Help me be obedient to you each day and take this laziness from my spirit.

Living By Faith

Scripture: Romans 1:[17] For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

Observation: Do I live by faith? I wish I did. Today God has asked me to set up a table at Oceanside Pier to pray with those who need prayer. I will go, but I’m afraid and it is only due to the lack of faith I have. God is with me and I know this is His will so I should be full of joy at the chance to honor Him.

Application: I think and worry so much for no reason and it is all do to the lack of faith I have. I need to look at each day the way God has intended it to be and search for ways to do His will. Today is an opportunity to honor God and fulfill the purpose I have been created for.

Prayer: Dear Lord help me this day and give me courage. Increase my faith and show me favor today that I will be and do what you are calling me to do. Keep my eyes open and let me see what you see.
