My Prayer for Me

Scripture Psalms 131:1 A song of Ascents. Of David. LORD, my heart is not haughty, Nor my eyes lofty. Neither do I concern myself with great matters, Nor with things too profound for me.

Observation: I wish I would be able to say this. It’s almost the opposite of how I am. My heart is haughty and my eyes lofty. I’m overwhelmed with the concerns of things around me and I’m always trying to figure out things that are beyond me or don’t concern me.

Application: I need to be more of what David is saying in this Psalm. I need to be at peace with my Lord and trust Him and not myself. I need to have a still heart and focus on the things God desires of me. My mind should be set on the things of the Lord and not worry about things that are none of my business and out of my control.

Prayer: Dear Lord guide me through this life and strengthen your servant. Give me a peaceful heart and calm my spirit. Open my eyes to the things you desire me to see and may I glorify you. I love you Lord help me draw closer to You.

I Hope In His Word

Scripture Psalms 130:5 I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, And in His word I do hope.

Observation: A day doesn’t go by that I don’t read the word of God. I may not do well with addresses, but I know a good part of His word and I depend on it. I believe everything that is written in the Bible and what I don’t understand I search for meaning. I try to obey God’s command and depend on His mercy to get through this life and I know what is written about Heaven is true and I can’t wait to be there.

Application: I need to keep studying God’s word and find out as much as I can while I’m here. I need to depend of every word that is written and know that it is true and designed for me. I need to share God’s word with others and help comfort anyone that might be hurting using God’s message.

Prayer: My Lord my soul waits for you. Command your servant through your word and guide me through this life. I anxious to be with you in your timing and look forward to spending eternity with you.

The Lord Removes the Wicked

Scripture Psalms 129:4 The LORD is righteous; He has cut in pieces the cords of the wicked.

Observation: I try to get even with those I feel wrong me. I do what I think should be done to those who hurt people I love, but that is not what God calls me to do. He wants me to honor Him with my life and that He’ll remove the wicked in His timing and not mine. I’m called to love others and He is the righteous judge, not me.

Application: To honor God by obeying His command to love others. Not to be focused on the wicked, but focus on my Lord and His word. That I will not retaliate but stand firm in God’s love and to get through the trials in a way that will glorify God.

Prayer: My Lord I’m a sinner and my thoughts always go to anger instead of love. I need the filling of the Holy Spirit to live a life that will glorify you. Give me peace and wisdom to do what is of You.

Fear and Be Blessed

Scripture Psalms 128:4 Behold, thus shall the man be blessed Who fears the LORD.

Observation: In the bible when it says fear the Lord it doesn’t mean to be afraid of Him but to take what He says seriously. Fear if you don’t obey His commands for there is consequences for not obeying. However, when you listen to our Lord and obey what He commands you will be in His will and be blessed.

Application: That is what I want to be in God’s will. To know what He desires of me and then do it. I need to take everything scriptures says to heart and practice it. I need to be in His word each day and meditate on what it is telling me. I want to be where God wants me to be.

Prayer: My Lord I ask for your blessings not because I deserve anything, but because You desire to do so. Help me stay in your will and know what you are commanding me to do. May I please you with whatever time I’m here and may I glorify your name.

It Must Be the Lord’s

Scripture Psalms 127:1 A song of Ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.

Observation: Basically, if it’s not the Lord’s will it is futile. If we do things on our own without asking God for guidance what we are doing is useless. We need God’s guidance before doing anything. Whatever we do here that is not of God will shall be burned up and lost forever.

Application: I need to stop doing things without asking God if this is what He desires. I do so many things that are wrong and a waste of my time, time that could have been spent on doing God’s will. I need to stop and pray and make sure what I’m about to do is scripturally based and not of my own desires.

Prayer: My Lord please help me do what pleases you. I’m lost so much of the time, because I don’t ask for direction from you. Take charge of my life and guide me each day and help me not take the wrong road, but be on the path you have chosen for me.

The Lord Has Done Great Things for Me

Scripture Psalms 126:2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.”

Observation: When I look back and think of all the great things God has done for me it does bring me laughter and joy that He cares so much for me. My testimony is telling others the great things God has done in my life and how He is always with me and had never forsaken me. I may not be able to sing, but I can sing out what wonderful things the Lord has done for me and may all hear and rejoice.

Application: Continue to share my testimony so more people can hear the marvelous works God has done in my life and what He want to do in theirs. Always think back of God’s grace to give me strength for today’s trials and now that my Lord is watching over me. To laugh and be filled with joy what God still has planned for me.

Prayer: My Lord I sing your praises. Open doors for me to tell others all of the glorious things you have done in my life. May I wake in the morning with anticipation of what you might have in store for me on that day.

Trust in the Lord

Scripture Psalms 125:1 A song of Ascents. Those who trust in the LORD Are like Mount Zion, Which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

Observation: I want to trust like that no matter what happens I can’t be moved. That I would stand firm in my faith not allowing anything in this world to move me away from God. I want to be Mount Zion and abide in the Lord forever.

Application: Over the years I’ve become better, but still so far from where I should be. I need to let go of any control I think I have and give it all over to my Lord and allow Him to take charge. I need to trust Him completely and let go of the reins of this life and follow my Lord whole heartedly.

Prayer: My Lord I do trust you, but I get in my own way. Take charge of your servant and guide me each day. May I put all of my trust in you and that you will guide me through this life and I would be obedient and do all you call me to do.
